Brick Stitch
You've completed the ladder row, which is now crossed out on the chart. It's a good idea to cross out each row as it is completed, but if you want to use the pattern again, make a copy first.
You are now working on the first non-ladder row, shown in red on the chart. Note that at the ends of the rows, the beads do not line up directly above and below each other. They are positioned slightly inward or outward as a result of the diagonal nature of the weave. If the pattern is stepped outward by one bead as in this row, you will start by adding two beads as shown in the diagram and the animation.
Start by placing two beads on your thread. Run the needle through the very first loop on the foundation ladder. Take up the slack so the beads sit neatly. Thereafter, add one bead at a time and run the thread through the next loop on the foundation ladder. Work in this manner until you reach the end of the row.

You're nearing the end of the first row. When you add the last bead, you'll see that there is no "next loop" on the foundation ladder. Run the needle back through the same loop you used for the previous bead. Put the bead on the thread, then run the needle through the same ladder loop used for the previous bead. After taking up the slack, reinforce the last bead by making one more pass through the previous bead so the thread emerges from the top of the last bead.

This is how the whole row will look when completed.
